Wait, what?

So I started with the free version and liked that. So I then bought this version and found out that not only did the stuff from the free version not go through, the guys I had unlocked are locked and some arent even available unless I pay for them.

So my question is why do I have to pay more money in the paid version than in the free version? I have more access to characters in the free version than the paid version!
